Front elevation of existing chimney cap

The stone was weathered to such an extent that the profile had eroded. As a result of freeze/thaw the top part of the unit had also become detatched from the base.

Survey of the existing stone

A survey is taken of the existing stone unit dimensions are taken and a full-size section profile prepared. Lines are extended to re-establish mouldings that have been eroded away.

After the Client has approved the details as being acceptable the mason will cut the new stone. The replacement unit is secured into place and the capping flaunched. Only part of the cap had deteriorated with the remainder being perfectly serviceable.

Supplied in St.Bees natural sandstone, the worked chimney cap is now ready for the next 100 years of the English weather.
